Wow, what an amazing night last night. I have been listening to The Script for 3 years now and I not only saw them in concert last night, but had an absolutely amazing experience.
I heard Before The Worst and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved right as their CD came out, before they caught on the radio and MTV. At the time I was dating a girl who I eventually realized I was ready to propose to. When we dated, she had given me a mix CD, which I reciprocated. Instead of giving me track titles, she wrote little phrases about how the song relates to her and I. I reciprocated, of course, writing “If anything happens to us, you know where to find me” for The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, which I put on towards the end of the CD. We broke up 5 months before I was planning to propose. Luckily I hadn’t bought the engagement ring yet, but what would have been our anniversary I went to the metro stop we met at and did not move. I honestly thought she and I would get back together. I made the promise to her, and anyone who knows me and my determination will attest that I keep every promise I keep, whether it is to a client, a friend and absolutely a girlfriend.
Our anniversary was at the end of November, of course, and the station is beyond freezing near the entrance where she and I met. We had an instant connection that I had never felt before. For a girl I cared this deeply for and the first girl I loved, I had to keep this promise. We all do stupid things for the first person we love, don’t we? I know Danny understands!
When The Script’s second CD came out, I was literally blown away how impactful and relatable the entire CD is. When I saw that they were coming to DAR in DC, I had to go. The show got canceled because Danny got sick, and they are now known as The preSCRIPTions in DC. However, between the time the show was canceled and the new show came, I got physical documentation of my disability that allows me to get disabled seating at events. I went from the back of the floor to the 8th row. Such an amazing night!
Afterwards I found where all the crazed girls were waiting, slinked my way towards the front of the line, stood exhausted and beyond thirsty for a half hour, but the guys came out…and I got to tell them about living their song. Glen was touched by it. Mark asked me how it worked out for me. And Danny, well Danny asks if my camera takes video after telling him the story and , standing next to each other, says that I’m the actual man that can’t be moved. If only I could tell Danny the whole story about how determined I have been across my life.
