So, looks like I didn't get the Nike job. It would have been a great opportunity, but this just means that something better and more important is going to come my way.
We can't always explain why we make the choices we make, yet my decision to go to McDaniel College for my education has directly impacted where I am today. If I were to go to any other school and take any other set of classes, I would not be the same person I am right now.
The fact remains that a large majority of where I am trying to get myself has been dictated by, literally, taking one class in college. It was the only class that I took with Kate Dobson, but taking Rhetorical Approaches to Daily Discourse not only taught me how to write better, but determined my writing and speaking style that I am using now and plan to use for the rest of my life. It only took one course with Kate for me to find my mentor, who I still look towards.
Sure, this job opportunity didn't happen for me, but at least I took a chance and applied. I didn't have to apply, but by doing so, and by taking any risk really, the worst position you will find yourself in by taking that risk is where you currently are by taking said risk. As great as this would have been, I have much bigger dreams to try and accomplish in my life. I'm just going to keep my head high, knowing how far I have come and how strong I have become and have faith that my continuous hard work are going to pay off, and will probably do so in a way completely unexpected. The only way to ensure that does happen is to take advantage of every opportunity I find, remembering that the worst off I'll find myself by taking the risk is where I currently am before taking it.
